Student housing in Milan.

Find the best student housing and accommodations for young workers, enjoy living in this city!

Welcome to Milan

Welcome to the Italian capital of fashion and cradle for visionary designers; a city rich of an inestimable artistic and cultural heritage, incredible exhibition spaces and and an unstoppable melting pot for all the kinds of events. That's what makes Milan is the liveliest international hub in Italy, where loads of international students and young workers come to start an academic experience abroad or an international career.

Housing guide

Your experience abroad is about to begin, are you ready to live a unique adventure? Before starting, you need to plan some stuffs and we are here to help you with everything.

Living in milan, or a quite similar cosmopolitan city, for a year or semester is an amazing thing that all the young internationals should try at least once in life. Anyway, it’s not that easy to plan a stay abroad: here are some issues to keep in mind.

We are here to help and support you to make this process easier!

1st Step Keep in mind

Budget

The first step to do is setting a budget, probably the less funny part; at this point you’ll find out if you can afford your experience abroad, the area where you can live, the type of accommodation you could pick. When you deal with the finances you have to think about: price of the room or apartment, cost of living (bills, living expenses such as grocery, food, etc.), the card or tickets of the public transport and many other things.

Timing

Which is the perfect moment to rent your room? You can be an early bird researcher or do a last minute booking.

  1. If you would rather carefully plan everything in advance, then it’s better to start seeking your accommodation at least 4 months before the arrival. That’s how you’ll get the best option, the ideal for you. But, little warning: most likely you have to pay the rent even for the term that precedes your arrival in town.
  2. The last booking option is for those who prefer relaxing and starting their research at the very end (in any case, we suggest to start at least one month before). Milan is such a lively and dynamic city; people move very often and it won’t be a “mission impossible” for you to find a last minute accommodation. But, be careful, you may encounter some issues to find the ideal place (because of the timing).

Area, transportation and closeness to workplace or university

If you are looking for lively and dynamic neighbourhoods, then our tip is to stay in the central areas of Milan. There are a lot of upsides about that: the greatest shopping routes of Europe, the coolest dining spots in Italy and many cultural points. The only downside is the noise: if you’re a calm person, our suggestion is to rent a room in a non-touristy area.

What’s more? Some additional things you consider when it comes to choose the best neighbourhood in Milan for living: the public transport, the distance to your university or workplace, to supermarkets and anything else you need!

2nd Step Types of student housing in Milan

Rooms for students in Milan

The housing solution that all the young internationals pick! It’s all about advantages: you can choose to live wherever you want and you’ll meet a lot of new people.

Shared rooms in Milan

A shared room is probably the cheapest way to live in the city. Splitting the expenses is the best thing about that and, moreover, you’ll probably have a lifelong friend.

Shared flats in Milan

Shared flat

It’s a suitable student housing solution for those who want their own room and privacy, but still want to socialize with their roomies, create beautiful friendships.

Full Apartment

Looking for your own peaceful place? Then, renting an apartment is the option for you, even if you should know that is the most expensive housing solution.

Student residence in Milan

Student Residence

Living in a student residence may look like staying in a hotel. You’ll have the restaurant, the laundry, the pool and many other services to enjoy Milan. But this is not a cheap option at all.

Coliving for students in Milan

Coliving

3rd Step Details

Interior / Exterior

The price of the rooms for rent may vary if it’s an interior one or not. If you look for a bright room in Milan, than the exterior ones are the best pick (and they also provide you with a beautiful view on the street), but if you prefer living in a peaceful and calm accommodation, our tip is to choose an interior one.

Furniture

A cosy and well equipped flat is all tenant wants when it comes to live abroad!

During your flat hunting, you’ll run into several types of accommodations: those which are empty spaces or others that are well equipped.

At helpHousing, our flats are furnished and renovated in a modern style. Moreover, our rooms provide you with all the furnitures you need.

Maintenance

Deciding the kind of accommodation where to live in Milan means you also choose to rent a room or a flat that won’t cause you headache! Living alone is way harder, because you have to manage some problems that you never had before: door locks issues, problems with the boiler or the bathroom pipes...and others. Furthermore, you could run into some language misunderstandings and you may find it difficult to know how much the service costs.

We put a lot of effort in our customer care: our tenants have nothing to worry about, since we include the maintenance service in our offer.

Costs

One last detail to keep in mind is about the costs. Have you thought about including that in your room rental budget? In many rooms in Milan, or apartments, costs are excluded from the starting price. And so, you should also consider this cost when it comes to rent a room. But don’t forget that the expenses and bills management is way easier with us: we provide you with your own online account and you will receive notifications about every detail.
